Woodland Heights House

This small home is sited on one of the last remnants of woodland just south of the James River within the City limits. Preservation of all mature trees on the site inspired the form of the house, which responds advantageously to available sun and breezes for passive conditioning, as well as framing views through the woods out to the street. Living roofs allow the dwelling to operate as integral component of the ecosystem – - most of the storm water will be absorbed and otherwise collected, while establishing new habitat for winged creatures and the homeowners alike.
