Wintergreen Founders’ Memorial

Perched at the edge of a prominent Wintergreen Resort overlook, this structure provides an intensified experience of several Blue Ridge mountain and valley view sheds. Aside from offering basic protection from the elements, it will also serve as an official remembrance to conservation efforts throughout the resort’s history, particularly those of its early visionaries and developers. As an extension of this ethic, the project was constructed of 100% selectively harvested black locust from within 10 miles of the site. The building form responds to the gentle mountain landscape and is complimented with plants native only to the Blue Ridge ecoregion.
