BAM.BU is a deployable housing development strategy that not only addresses the question ‘how do we build the C2C house of the future?’ but also ‘how to build the C2C city of the future?’ The ebb and flow of growth in our urban neighborhoods is inevitable; the only way to sustain them is through a system that can encourage growth in times of recession and adapt to growth in times of prosperity.
The BAM.BU system has two key components. The first is a building module that integrates living, structural, and environmental building systems into an iconic and expressionistic object. The second is a plan for the deployment of these objects throughout the city. Like public art, these seedlings establish a new civic identity while also projecting Roanoke’s embracing the C2C vision.
